"Mudele's Blue Room" first opened its doors on Garrick Street on 29th November 1952 with Joe's group playing Monday, Friday and Saturday evenings - packed every evening - until eventually taken over by the owner of Studio 51. In the late '40s Joe also played in the Dankworth Seven.
Hence - before Joe died on 7th March 2014 he and Colin talked about setting up this event at Bexley to commemorate the above. Colin did so and it'll now be performed regularly in loving remembrance of JOE MUDELE who played bass at this Club for over 20 years - subsequently taking on the running and organisation of the Club 14 years ago - together with his wife, Jan Mudele - who makes certain Bexley Jazz Club remains one of the best in the country.
As always COLIN HICKMAN will lead - having made all of the Arrangements for the following superb lineup.

CHARIS IOANNOU was born in Nicosia, Cyprus in 1976. In 1997 he was enrolled at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, and won the Woodwind Achievement Award in the last year of his studies in Boston. Charis left the United States in 2005 and moved back to Cyprus.
Charis is currently teaching the saxophone and the jazz idiom at the University of Nicosia as well as making guest faculty appearances in workshops held in Italy, Lebanon and Greece and continuing to perform and record as a leader as well as a sideman in Cyprus and abroad.
Charis has also appeared at Ronnie Scott's in London.Supporting Vasilis and Charis this evening will be a truly great Trio -

Since January 2015, Deelee has been resident singer at Renato D’Aiello’s Late, Late Show at Ronnie Scott's. also teaming up with the Renato D’Aiello Sextet, and performing to a full house at Pizza Express Jazz Club, Dean Sreet for two nights in February 2015.
Born in London, Deelee studied at the Brit School of performing Arts and pursued an academic path in music - graduating with a BA honours degree.

Scott Hamilton was born in Providence, Rhode Island in 1954 and, during his childhood, heard a lot of jazz through his father's extensive record collection - thus becoming acquainted with the jazz greats. The only formal music tuition he ever had was at around 8 years of age on clarinet - taking up saxophone around 8 years later. In his early 20s Scott moved to NY and met his 'champion' Eldridge and was introduced to such as Illinois Jacquet, Vic Dickenson and Jo Jones. In December 1976 Scott joined Benny Goodman for whom he continued to work until the early 80s. A year later he was signed to the Concord label, for whom he still records - now some 40 albums later.
The 'Ronnie' for International Jazz Saxophonist of the Year in the 2007 inaugural Ronnie Scott's Jazz Awards was awarded to Scott Hamilton.

Sandy has also worked with Scott Hamilton, the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC Big Band and John Wilson Orchestra - to name but a few.

Gordon holds the post as Trombone Professor at the Royal Marine School of Music, Portsmouth and the Royal Academy as well as having been appointed - in 2015 - Honorary Associate of the Royal Academy of Music for Jazz Trombone.ROBBIE HARVEY has performed across Europe and further afield with groups such as the BBC Big Band, Guy Barker Orchestra, Laurence Cottle Big Band, Gordon Campbell Big Band, Ronnie Scotts Jazz Orchestra, Cleo Laine and the late John Dankworth, amongst many others.
