"Following a Scott Hamilton solo is like listening to a great conversationalist in full flow. First comes the voice, the inimitable, assured sound of his tenor saxophone, then the informal style and, finally, the amazing fluency and eloquent command of the jazz language"......Dave Gelly

Scott Hamilton was born in Providence, Rhode Island in 1954 and, during his childhood, heard a lot of jazz through his father's extensive record collection - thus becoming acquainted with the jazz greats. The only formal music tuition he ever had was at around 8 years of age on clarinet - taking up saxophone around 8 years later. In his early 20s Scott moved to NY and met his 'champion' Eldridge and was introduced to such as Illinois Jacquet, Vic Dickenson and Jo Jones. In December 1976 Scott joined Benny Goodman for whom he continued to work until the early 80s. A year later he was signed to the Concord label, for whom he still records - now some 40 albums later.

The 'Ronnie' for International Jazz Saxophonist of the Year in the 2007 inaugural Ronnie Scott's Jazz Awards was awarded to Scott Hamilton.

SCOTT HAMILTON is in demand the world over - so BOOK TODAY for your place at BEXLEY, 16-01-2017.
