PETE NEIGHBOUR is a highly respected Clarinet and Saxophone player - originally from London and now based in the USA. Pete travels extensively - performing in his inimitable style - Swing Era Jazz for the 21st Century - covering Jazz Clubs, Concert Halls, and regularly aboard Luxury Cruise Ships as a featured guest entertainer - most often aboard the Silver Seas ships.

SARA DOWLING makes her first appearance at Bexley this evening. Sara is a vocalist with timeless quality and with a voice which has all the qualities found in the great singers. She is enigmatic, beguiling and intensely musical.

MICK FOSTER - Composer and Saxophonist - covering all instruments from Soprano to Baritone as well as Clarinet - has 'played with them all' - from John Dankworth and Cleo Laine - Guy Barker -Mark Nightingale - The London Philharmonic - the Syd Lawrence Orchestra etc etc.

Mick also teaches at Trinity Laban Conservatoire and at the Guildhall - as well as being Tutor for the National Jazz Youth Collective.

LAURA JURD - British award-winning Trumpet player, composer and bandleader. Laura is also BBC New Generation Artist for 2015-2017 and is highly active throughout the UK scene. Laura has developed a formidable reputation as one of the most creative young musicians to emerge from the UK in recent years.

Scott Hamilton was born in Providence, Rhode Island in 1954 and, during his childhood, heard a lot of jazz through his father's extensive record collection - thus becoming acquainted with the jazz greats. The only formal music tuition he ever had was at around 8 years of age on clarinet - taking up saxophone around 8 years later. In his early 20s Scott moved to NY and met his 'champion' Eldridge and was introduced to such as Illinois Jacquet, Vic Dickenson and Jo Jones. In December 1976 Scott joined Benny Goodman for whom he continued to work until the early 80s. A year later he was signed to the Concord label, for whom he still records - now some 40 albums later.

The 'Ronnie' for International Jazz Saxophonist of the Year in the 2007 inaugural Ronnie Scott's Jazz Awards was awarded to Scott Hamilton.

JIMMY HASTINGS - Professor of Jazz Saxophone at the London College of Music and back in 1998/2004 was also Professor of Jazz Saxophone to the Royal Marines School of Music.

He was, of course, famously part of the Humphrey Lyttleton Band and the John Dankworth Generation Band.
These days Jimmy deputises regularly with many of the big bands of today - including the Don Lusher Big Band, Paul Lacey's Back to Basie Band, the Syd Lawrence Band, The Echoes of Ellington Band and others.

MARTIN SHAW - one of the country's top trumpet soloists playing with Big Bands to Quartets - from cutting edge jazz to contemporary pop & funk. Martin Shaw is a stunning musician at the top of his game.

MARK CROOKS is a star on the Clarinet ........he pops up all over the London scene. Mark is a member of the superb Back to Basie Orchestra and the John Wilson Orchestra - and although he has worked in a wide range of musical settings Mark is, undoubtedly, most at home in the Jazz World.

She comes to us via top venues in Philadelphia, New York, Paris, Turkey, Briazil, Africa, Germany and Japan - with much of her phrasing borrowed from Sarah Vaughan, Ella, Nat 'King' Cole and Sinatra - from Carmen McCrea and Nina Simone.

It's always a delight to welcome RON DRAKE back to Bexley. Ron began his musical life in the 60s with the Alan Elsdon Band - in which Campbell Burnap also played and during which time the two formed a friendship which lasted until Campbell's death. Ron later worked with Rod Mason and the Alex Welsh Reunion Band. His Jazz style is cultured and impeccable (rather like the man himself) and is a joy to hear. Ron is widely respected in the world of jazz as one of the very finest reed players.

The evening Ron is supported by TED BEAMENT, JEROME SPENCER and ROD BROWN

American born altoist ALLISON NEALE'S beautifully crafted lines evoke the spirit of Paul Desmond and
Art Pepper with whom she has a particular affinity.

As a strong advocate of the melodic West Coast style she has performed alongside leading international artists such as Adelaide Hall and Bud Shank and more recently tenorist Scott Hamilton as well as featuring in both the John Dankworth ‘Generations‘ Band and the “Back to Basie’ Orchestra.

SANDY SUCHODOLSKI is a graduate of The Royal Academy of Music. As well as fronting ‘The Sandy Suchodolski Trio’, he is one of the founding members of the ‘John Cervantes Quintet’ which also features Gareth Lockrane. He can be heard at Ronnie Scott’s with ‘The Quentin Collins Quartet’ – and with various other bandleaders. Sandy has also worked with Scott Hamilton, the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC Big Band and John Wilson Orchestra - to name but a few.

DAVE LEWIS is well known for his distinctive tenor sound and feel - which he plays as though from his soul.

GUNTHER KURMAYR - has spent many years touring the world with the Ray Gelato Giants.

Tonight - together with Shireen Francis - he will lead us on a journey through the Great American Songbook, shining new light through old windows and infusing timeless standards with a uniquely impressionistic classical style.

Shireen Francis has a stunning, expressive voice and has developed her own unique blend of jazz with flavours of gospel, blues, calypso and reggae. She has performed at Ronnie Scotts, The Royal Festival Hall, The Royal Albert Hall, the 606 Club, Pizza Express in Dean Street, etc.

On Double Bass this evening will be MANUEL ALVAREZ.

On drums we welcome back RICHARD PITE - a drummer who has made a speciality of vintage drumming techniques during the early days of the 20s and 30s through to the great names of the swing era - Jo Jones, Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa. Richard also plays tuba and double bass and, in his spare time, is Director of Music at Boisdale.
